As most of you have heard by now, we received some discouraging news yesterday. We were told that Embassy appointments were going to be delayed while the government investigates some of the claims that have recently been publicized. From what I understand, this is affecting other agencies, not just ours. We were told that we would hopefully have more information this morning on possibly still getting our case heard on March 9 since we are leaving tomorrow. This morning, we got word that they do not expect to have a meeting with the proper officials to hear whether they will still hear our case or not on March 9. They think they might be able to meet with them some time early next week. This leaves a lot up on the air, and obviously since our flight leaves tomorrow, we do not have the luxury of waiting to make a decision based on the answer next week. If we are not able to get in to be heard on March 9, from what I understand, the earliest we could get in would be April 20, but nothing is definite at this point.
Because we have everything ready to go and we are all set to leave tomorrow, we feel like the best thing for our family is to continue with our plan. We really don't know what this means for the long term, but here is how you can pray for and with us:
- That the officials give grace to us and allow our case to be heard so that we can get Levi's visa on March 9 and be able to leave as planned on March 11.
- Safety in travel and safety while we are there
- Positive transition with Levi and a good foundation for bonding
- Wisdom in decision-making for Nate and I
-Peace of mind for our families while we are gone
-For the many children and families this affects and the many ways it affects them
I was talking to my mom earlier this morning and she was saying that right now, we are a lot like Peter. There is a lot of stuff we don't know, but we have to trust God and step out of the boat. He will walk us through if we just continue to seek Him. So, here we go...
Shanna...I will pray for you as you start your journey tomorrow. God is holding your hand each step of the way. Update us if possible over the next two weeks. These changes are so confusing to all of us, but we have to continue to trust God and He will direct us.
