1. They think Levi's right eye is much stronger than the left and he is mostly only crossing the left one in. I tend to agree, although he does cross the right in at times. We are going to try patching the right eye for 2-4 hours every day to see if it strengthens the muscles in the left eye. We will go back Dec. 10 for a follow up to see how things are progressing. So far, on day 2, he really, really hates his eye patch and is pretty fussy for the duration that it's on (who wouldn't be?) so I am hoping that with time, he will get a little bit more used to it.
2. Levi is developmentally at 7-8 month, which really isn't that far behind. We have to increase his feeding by quite a bit, which really threw me for a loop but we are going to see how it goes and take that one slow. He seemed to be satisfied, but I could have misunderstood his being "satisfied" for being tired of working so hard to eat. We need to work on feeding/sucking as he still loses formula out of the side of his mouth (although better than it used to be) when he has a bottle & he needs to work on tongue control. He has "tongue thrust" issues that end up pushing food out instead of using his tongue to help move food around in his mouth. We will be introducing cups with straws to help with this along with a few other things. Some of the things are a little hairy and could be contra-indicative, so we will be doing a lot of playing around with his eating to get to (hopefully) a good happy-medium with it all.
I really appreciate all your prayers. It got a little crazy in the pediatric office, as it was nap time in a freezing room with a naked Levi being poked and prodded and discussed for 30-45 minutes. All in all, though, it was a decent visit (as decent as going to Riley can be). As always, we appreciate everyone's thoughtfulness and prayers!
