We finally received the long awaited email telling us about the changes in the court system...GOOD news! Scheduling for court cases has actually decreased from about 12 weeks down to 6-8 weeks. The judge who hears adoption cases is now only working adoption cases and is therefore able to hear cases 5 days a week.
In the update, they also mentioned the thought that has been looming in our minds...whether or not we will make it in before the rainy season. As you know, we are very close to completing our Dossier. We both have to finish a few hours of training and then we will be ready. Things will have to work almost perfectly for us to get a court date prior to the rainy season. It's just really hard for me to think that we will know who our child is and for him/them to be waiting on us for two extra months. Nate and I have been praying about it...we will just have to wait (story of my life) and see.
In other exciting news...Steve (Nate's dad) met some people who have some connections with Ethiopia while doing his rounds at the hospital. I am not sure of all of the details but I do know that there is an Ethiopian couple in Fort Wayne who actually have started an organization to help Ethiopia. Their agency is called Project Mercy (http://www.projectmercy.org/). We are very excited about this because I have been praying for a way for us to get involved to help this country. Hopefully it will also help us get to know this couple and our child will actually be able to spend some time and learn the culture with these people. That would be awesome.

Nice, i have made the first comment. Its pretty great that the court thing is going faster and i know things are going to work out. I know that the anxiousness is there but the best part is that there is an endpoint. Your goal of adopting is in the future and whether its 2 months later it is still going to happen and that is awesome. Im still excited for you guys and cant wait to see mama Shanna and daddy Nate in action.

Mark this as one of those things to look back upon in appreciation. Meanwhile, anxiousness is inevitable, but it is best directed in prayer. We'll just keep praying. Love you!

ReplyDeleteI just finished reading about "Project Mercy" which is right here in Ft. Wayne. The woman from Ethiopia that Steve mentioned, Marta, was the first woman Senator in Ethiopia and started Project Mercy here in FW. How exciting to realize how this contact may be a connecting link to your child. God will continue to open doors and prepare the way.
