We are really enjoying being home with our little man. I think that we are all adjusting pretty well. Levi was having trouble sleeping the first several nights we were home. We had him sleeping in our room in a co-sleeper (think mini pack n play), and he was waking up about every 2 hours or less. We didn't know if it was the new transition or the sleeping arrangement that was causing him to wake up so frequently. But, on Friday we decided it might be the sleeping arrangements because he was adjusting so well in every other area, so we decided to try his crib. I had tried a couple of naps in his crib during the day, and he seemed to sleep well so we thought it was worth a try. It ended up being a great decision. Since he has been sleeping in his crib, he has been sleeping between 3-5 hrs, pretty much what he was doing in Ethiopia. Yay!
As I mentioned above, other transitions are going well, too. He definitely recognizes Nate and I and will turn his head when he hears our voice as well. He has enjoyed meeting his family...almost as much as they have enjoyed meeting him. I don't think we've ever had more people come in and out of our house, which hasn't been a bad thing. It's actually been a blessing because it means that we feel Levi is doing so well and is able to see everyone and interact with them.
We haven't really been out much. We went to the doctor twice and have visited Nate's parents for the afternoon. We have a big trip on Wednesday to Indianapolis to the International Adoption Clinic at Riley for a general post-adoption work-up. Physically he is doing well - he had a small ear infection that really didn't even seem to bother him (no crying or pulling his ear; we only knew because of the doctor appt). He also has RSV, a respiratory problem that the doctor said would go away on its own, similar to Bronchiatis.
He continues to be a smiley, happy, interactive, easy going little man. I think our family is enjoying him almost as much as we are. We couldn't be more blessed!
