Week 2

I say it now, but the waiting isn't so bad yet. Alas, it has only been 7 whole days, but I have managed to enjoy these 7 days. What have I done for Baby J in 7 days, you ask? Well, thanks for asking...I would love to share! I bought 2 cloth diapers that I am so excited to start using. Yes, yes...we are going green and going cloth. I hear it's good for the budget and the booty, so I think it's a good deal all around. I also researched several books and stopped by the library to browse for later purchase. I will say, I am very impressed with Allen County Library's selection. They had every single book I was looking for. I also bought three board books at TJ Maxx (2 Dr. Seuss books and an Eric Carle book). Finally, I bought paint to start decorating the room! Mom and I are going to start painting tomorrow and I am so excited! I will be sure to post pictures for all my far-away friends' viewing pleasure.

And now, without further ado, Lesson #2....
I think this is very interesting, so hopefully you will, too. It is actually the year 2001 according to the Ethiopian calendar. Let's see...what was I doing in 2001? Nate and I had been dating this time in 2001 for about 5 months...and here we are 8 years later happily married. Where were you in 2001??
The Ethiopian Calendar
While much of the world marks the passing of days according to the Gregorian calendar, Ethiopia has its own calendar, which is also known as the Ge'ez Calendar. Based upon the ancient Coptic Calendar, the Ethiopian Calendar is seven to eight years behind the Gregorian Calendar, owing to alternate calculations in determining the date of the annunciation of the birth of Jesus.
The Ethiopian Calendar has 12 months of 30 days each, plus five or six additional days (sometimes known as the 13th month), which are added at the end of the year to match the calendar to the solar cycle. The year is currently 2001, according to the Ethiopian Calendar. The year 2001 began in Ethiopia on September 11, 2008 of the Gregorian Calendar.
