Urgh!

Well, the hoped for launch date for our completed Dossier looks like it's going to be backed up and I'm not sure how long. We thought we had everything necessary, but we might be missing a document from Texas (yet another background check). We knew we had to have this, but we thought we already got it done (actually, we thought ASC was requesting it on our behalf). You have to have a background check from every state you have lived in over the past 5 years. We have lived in Indiana for 4 years and 7 months. Oh, well. Hopefully, if ASC really doesn't have this document it won't take long for Texas to provide it to us. Another small hitch is that our first case worker at CWA switched programs with another case worker in the Russia program. I know they had to switch some time and there probably wasn't a convenient time for anyone, but regardless, it puts a little wrinkle in our situation. Nearing the end of our completion of the Dossier, I would have felt much better having our original case worker be the one to review it for us. I guess needing the document from Texas will give our new case worker time to settle in before we need him to review our Dossier. I think that we have everything CWA needs at this point.

We also wrote our letter to the Ethiopian government last night. How in the world do you convey to government officials your love for a child you don't even know? How do you explain you aren't even sure why you chose to adopt from Ethiopia, except that you felt God opening up your heart to these beautiful people? While trying to convey our desire, we also needed to include some of our own knowledge and interest in the Ethiopian culture, history, and values. It was a challenge, but we are both happy with the result. Hopefully, the Ethiopian government can understand our heart and desire and will be pleased with the results, too!
