Today we submitted a “pre-adoption” assessment form with Loving Shepherd ministries, a ministry in Bluffton, IN that helps to research best adoption options for you. Some things to note on our form included that we were interested in adopting an infant from Ethiopia, specifying that we were interested in twins. Also interesting to note was the fact that we had to give the number of traffic violations for both Nate and I….Nate = 2, Shanna = ZERO!! :)
We start this process with great excitement. The final conversation that led to this moment occurred on Christmas day as we were driving home from Christmas with my (Shanna) family. We had previously discussed starting in a few months, but we both felt like we’ve waited so long, why wait any longer? I was stoked when Nate said that he had previously felt a few jitters about adopting, but confidently and excitedly stated that he totally felt at peace and was ready and excited to start the process. I likened my feelings up to that moment as a horse at the start gate of a race, braying and jumping waiting for the gate to open…well, the gate is open and we are starting this journey tonight, the day after celebrating Christ’s birth and two days prior to our six year anniversary, excited and waiting to see what this year will bring…
